Sarah Hand makes narrative paintings, illustrations, and papier-mache sculptures inspired by her love of color, and feelings of connection and wonder about the world we live in. Layers of paint, colored pencil, crayon, and pastel add depth to her simple, warmhearted subject matter. She is inspired by American folk art, scribbles, and tenderness. Sarah’s work has been shown in galleries, private collections and publications. She is represented by Little Blue Mushroom Literary Agency.
Sarah teaches papier-mache sculpture and other fun classes to all ages at the Visual Arts Center of Richmond, the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts, and various retreats. She lives in an old bungalow with her husband and Roger, their three-legged cat.
